CHROMOGENESIS
From the Greek chroma, meaning colour, and genesis, meaning birth.
Chromogenesis is an old word for a very simple idea:
The birth of colour.
A colour that wasn’t there yet.
A colour that appears gently, in an organic transparency, in the subtlety of a light, or a vibrant gleam!
In Ancient Greece, colours were not named as they are today.
They were felt.
They were humidity, brightness, reflections, or vibration.
They didn’t define; they almost translated a sensation.
In my work, I seek that original sensation.
To bring colour to life, to let it emerge.
To give it space to exist; to be fragile, sensitive, alive.
Like a voice just beginning to be heard.
This exhibition is a luminous and intimate exploration of colour in all its depth.
Through large paintings made with epoxy, coloured and transparent layers overlap to bring forth transparency, reflections, and chromatic vibrations.
