Imon Boy
IMON BOY
Born in Málaga, Spain, in 1991, Imon Boy developed his artistic practice from an early age, influenced by graffiti and urban culture. Today, his work extends from the street to the canvas, bringing together painting, drawing and references to the visual culture of the 1990s.
His universe is immediately recognizable: cartoon-like characters, everyday scenes, humour, absurd situations and fragments of life come together with references to video games, cinema, the Internet, music and his own experiences. Each work functions like a page from a personal diary, both intimate and universal.
With a spontaneous, free and deeply playful approach, Imon Boy reinterprets the codes of graffiti to create a body of work that moves between irony, tenderness and an observation of the world around him. The artist also chooses to remain anonymous, preferring his work to take centre stage rather than his own image.
His work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and institutions including CAC Málaga, Centre Pompidou Málaga and Saatchi Gallery in London, as well as in Los Angeles, Chicago, Zurich, Hong Kong, Singapore and Paris. In 2024, his exhibition We Have It All at AishoNanzuka in Hong Kong marked another significant step in his international development.
For “No Rules”, Imon Boy naturally embodies the exhibition’s desire to move beyond boundaries and conventions: a free, instinctive and unapologetically playful form of painting, where humour and imagination become a way of looking at the world differently.
